M 2.9 shallow earthquake strikes Oklahoma (@ 6 km depth) today with epicenter located 23 km ENE of Oklahoma City. People living in Choctaw, Jones and  Spencer will have felt light shaking of MMI IV. Weak shaking will have felt in Guthrie, Norman, Shawnee and Oklahoma city

-M 2.8 weak shallow earthquake strikes today in Oklahoma (@ 4 km depth) with epicenter located 40 km SSE of Stillwater. This is the second earthquake in Oklahoma today. At 06:24, this morning too, earthquake with M 2.6 was recorded in the same region. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt around epicenter.

M 3.3 very shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 34 km ENE of Shawnee, Oklahoma (Seminole). People of Okmulgee, Ada and Shawnee will have felt it well. Weak shaking will have felt even in Oklahoma city.(click if you felt) . The earthquake stucked just minutes after an earthquake drill was held in the region. After long time, M 3.0+ earthquake have recorded in this region. Earlier on November 6, 2011 was the strongest earthquake to hit in Oklahoma history
From that time, the region has become seismically active.

-M 2.7 weak shallow earthquake (@ 5 km depth) stuck today in Oklahoma with epicenter located just 25 km ENE of OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma. People of Choctaw, Jones, Spencer, Newalla, Shawnee, Norman will have felt well shaking
At least 12 minor shocks have also struck the same epicenter near Indio this weekend, ranging from magnitude 1.0 to 2.2

- M 2.4 very shallow minor earthquake in Oklahoma is recorded today @ 0.1 km depth. It was for just a second. Th epicenter is close to Luther, OK. It will be faintly felt.

-Magnitude 3.3 shallow earthquake (@ 9.3 km depth) in Lincoln County near to Prague. Max. MMI II which means it will be well felt around epicenter. It is west of Prague Lake.

-M 2.7 minor but very shallow earthquake is recorded in Oklahoma today with epicenter located 31 km (19 miles) NE of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Even felt in Okmulgee, Stillwater and oklahoma city. The Tinker Afb Airport is 39.29 km far from the epicenter. This area seems to be active from recent days mainly after the M 5.6 Very strong earthquake in Oklahoma this November.

Magnitude 2.0 minor earthquake (@ 6.1 km depth) in Okfuskee county, Oklahoma. The epicenter is north of Paden, OK. Most of the people didn't even feel it.

Magnitude 3.2 shallow earthquake (@ 4.9 km depth) is recorded in Oklahoma again with epicenter 36 km (22 miles) SE of Guthrie, Oklahoma. It is well felt in Luther, S Coffeyville and  Wellston which is near to St Luke Cemetery.

Another earthquake of magnitude 3.2 stuck Oklahoma again after one hour little far from Shawnee. It is 26 km NE of Shawnee, Oklahoma. It is felt as far as Benton. People reported of  feeling well of these quakes mainly in Shawnee which is nearest too epicenter. It is closer to Prague Lake north of Prague Municipal Airport. This area seems to little active from recent days.

mentions M 3.4 @ a shallow depth of 3.8 km in Lincoln County. It is third earthquake today in Oklahoma which is well felt by the people.

-M 3.3 earthquake in Oklahoma with epicenter located 16 km NNE of Shawnee, Oklahoma. It  is felt as far as Oklahoma City. From recent days, the earthquake has become common  in these areas. people immediately crawl the internet when they felt slight tremor to confirm the quake. The earlier M 5.6 very strong earthquake in Oklahoma made the history of being strongest. Today this is the second earthquake which is well felt by people of Oklahoma, the earlier was of M 2.7 seconds earlier. OGS has given different data of M 3.4 @ 0.1 km depth in Pottawatomie county.

-Magnitude 3.7 earthquake (@ 6.2 km depth) is recorded in Lincoln County near Sparks, OK. The epicenter is near to reservoir area north of  Prague lake. 399,000 people have experienced a light shaking of MMI IV.
people of Prague, Chandler, Boley, Stroud Jones and Shawnee have experienced weak to light shaking. Magnitude too less to cause any damage.

-Magnitude 2.7 minor earthquake (5.3 km depth) recorded 22 km NNE of Shawnee, Oklahoma (@ 21:46 UTC, local time 03:46 PM at epicenter @ epicenter) close to Prague Municipal Airport. It was well felt in Meeker region. Even felt in 100+ radius area.
-Magnitude 2.8 minor earthquake (@ 5 km depth) is recorded today in Oklahoma at 01:36 AM local time. It made people awake around epicenter area which was 39 km NE of OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma. 
It was felt in Guthrie, Shawnee, Still water, Norman, luther, Bethany, Edmond, Glenpool, Muskogee and other neighbouring area.

UPDATE 11/20/2011 
In Oklahoma County the earthquake with highest magnitude was 2.6 today. It was even not felt. Others were less than 2.

Lincoln County near to Prague Municipal Airport.

Today people of Oklahoma County felt slight tremor. The earthquake was recorded of magnitude 2.4 at shallow depth of 4.3 km. Max. felt MMI II.

M 3.2 minor earthquake hit Lincoln County at shallow depth of 5 km (UTC 17:10) today. It was Felt by the people  as we find lot of people from Oklahoma area to our site searching for Recent Earthquakes In Oklahoma. Other less than magnitude 2 were also recorded which was hardly sensible to people.
People in Oklahoma becomes ALERT even when they feel small minor quakes because of the recent earthquake in Oklahoma, strongest to hit breaking all earlier records.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated eight Oklahoma counties natural disaster areas because of losses caused by drought and excessive heat that began May 1.
The agency said Monday that Craig; Delaware; Mayes; Nowata; Ottawa; Rogers; Tulsa and Washington counties were placed Nov. 9 under the designation, which includes eight neighboring counties in Oklahoma and one in Arkansas. (source news9)

Magnitude 3.3 minor earthquake (@ 5.4 km depth) strike
Oklahoma today. The epicenter of this Oklahoma earthquake was located just 5 km (3 miles) SSE  from Sparks, OK. It was 14 km (9 miles) NW from Prague, OK and 67 km (42 miles) E from Oklahoma City, OK. Well felt in Shawnee. People of Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Derby, Fayetteville, Bentonville, Davis, Broken Arrow, Mounds, Sapulpa, Spiro, Abilene have also reported experiencing a weak shaking.

11/13 UPDATE
Minor aftershock of magnitude 3  is recorded today on November 13, 2011. The epicenter is 19 km NNE of Shawnee, Oklahoma. well felt in Oklahoma state.
 
11/10 UPDATE
The Oklahoma government has declared state of emergency for 20 counties after earthquake, tornado and severe storm hit the recent days, the international medias reported.


11/09 UPDATE    
Authorities from Lincoln County Emergency said office has received reports of 94 homes damaged due to the recent earthquakes. Quoting newsok, "Walls on a warehouse were damaged and another abandoned structure was damaged Monday night"

Another aftershocks of M 4.7 @ shallow depth of 5 km hit Oklahoma again at 2:46 UTC.
The epicenter of this aftershocks is just 9 km  NW from Prague, OK and 71 km E  from Oklahoma City, OK.

The USGS is installing more sensors in the region to better analyze the quake series. Authorities said,the very quake sent shock waves for about 20-30 seconds.

The department of emergency management said, a Lincoln County resident was injured when he hit his head trying to run out of his home during the earthquake and other was a female from Pottawatomie County who cut her foot on broken glass after the earthquake. But neither required hospitalization.

It is good to hear that  the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said no damage has been found on bridges nor lake dams in the area. U.S. Highway 62 buckled in at least two places during the quake, causing a sinkhole east of Meeker, Okla., but road crews repaired the damage overnight.

The Oklahoma Geological Survey has warned people to expect more aftershocks. Till now aftershocks are recorded but they are minor, less than M 3.

Officials have finally confirmed M 5.6 Oklahoma earthquake has damaged 14 homes in Oklahoma. However, there is no report of anyone seriously damaged.

However, Kenny Shaw, Dallas' director of emergency management, said Sunday morning. "We haven't had any reports of damage or injuries." Emergency phonelines were tied up with people calling to say they felt the quake.

At Shawnee, the fire department said one spire on the administration building at St. Gregory University had been damaged and another one was leaning, according to KWTV in Oklahoma City.

A lot of people were scared. Residents in Prague and Sparks felt an intense shaking. People were seen  panicked  in Oklahoma city. Oklahoma City is 72km southwest from the epicentre of the quake.
A strong jolt was also felt in Kansas City, more than 570km away.
According to USGS, the strongest earthquake previously recorded in Oklahoma was in 1952 of M 5.5

Following the twitter updates, In some cases chimneys have collapsed through the roofs of homes. Damage to the Prague library includes collapsed air condition ducts and a collapsed wall. Several roadways have buckled, including Highway 62 and other county roads.

It said the quake struck near the community of Sparks — in eastern Oklahoma between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The temblor shook the stadium at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater near the end of the school's football game with Kansas State.

Shawnee: The T.V. almost fell over! I was standing by the TV when it happened. Very hard to walk down my hallway at the time
Moore: Shook bed hard enough to wake out of sound sleep. It shook small pictures and decorations off walls and a few off small shelves (decorative and not sturdy shelves ) had all close neighbors running outside side, we all met in street to talk! No major damage that can see.
Eufaula: Quake started with a jolt and then loud rumble/trembling that increased in intensity for about the first 15 seconds.  The rumble/trembling continued for approximately 30 seconds total.  After the first 15 seconds or so it began to decrease in intensity and just before it stopped there was another small jolt.
Van Buren :It sounded like and felt like a vehicle hit the house, then I felt the couch sway back and forth one time in each direction.
Madison :My water pipes started rattling...I was sitting at the time, I felt like my chair very faintly weaved.  It was weird.
Leavenworth:It started out weak just making things rattle but the bed eventually was swaying.

M 4.7 Shallow Earthquake Rattle Oklahoma Following With Many Aftershocks

Disaster Report: The third largest shallow Oklahoma earthquake with M 4.7 rattles the Oklahoma (UTC 7:12) today. The epicenter of this Oklahoma earthquake is just 9 km (6   miles) N from Prague, OK.

More than 50  aftershocks associated with the main M 4.7 earthquakes are recorded till now by OGS but most of them < M 3.0. Remember it is the third-largest earthquake in state history of Oklahoma. last two were in 1952 and 2010.

Due to very less depth, it will be experienced in vast area. If we follow the felt report of other seismological sites, it is felt as far as Chickasha, Healdton and other which are 100+ km far from the epicenter area!

Another minor earthquake of M 3.4 @ 5 km depth 11:24 UTC). The epicenter is 25 km (15 miles) NNE of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

 If we see the historical data, there were no earthquakes with significant population exposure to shaking within a 400 km radius of this event. That may be the reason people are little panic!

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett issued the following statement about the earthquake:
"It's obviously extremely unusual for an earthquake of this magnitude to be felt in Oklahoma City. Fortunately, we have no reports of injuries or significant damage. We are awaiting further information but we have no reason to believe this is anything other than merely an interesting event."

Though this doesn't seem to strong enough to cause serious damage, people are much frightened. Being the new blog, we have got 50+ visits in half an hour via goggle and yahoo search engine. It shows people are worried about it!!

With these all felt reports, it seems that the quake is felt as far as 100 km far from the epicenter area !

Prague: It scared the living daylights out of me. I was already awake before it happened and started screaming i thought i was in a dream there for a min then i was scared that the house was going to fall apart
Sparks :Wow, I woke up in the floor, it rolled me outta bed! Things have been knocked off my walls, cabinets,etc. it broke alot......I thought someone/ sonething hit my home. I've never felt something like that ...
Shawnee:It felt as if the whole earth was rolling underneath me. Quite surreal and scary experience!  Ran outside and car alarms were going off and other people were running outside looking around as well. Not anything I want to experience again anytime soon.
Del City :IT FELT LIKE IT LASTED ALMOST 2 MINUTES FROM START TO END.  I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS SHAKING MY HOUSE AND IT SCARED MY DOG AND MYSELF.  THE DOG WAS LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW AND I WAS SCARED TO OPEN MY DOOR.  AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES IT STOPPED I LOOKED OUTSIDE TO SEE IF OTHERS WAS OUTSIDE.  IT WAS AFTER 2AM.  I DIDN'T KEEP THE DOOR OPEN LONG FOR FEAR IT WASN'T A EARTHQUAKE.  I WAS SHAKING UNTIL I CALLED THE POLICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS FOR SURE EARTHQUAKE.  VERY SCARY
Edmond:everything in my house was quiet and i thought a car had ran into my garage doors it was so loud. then i noticed my whole house swaying like it was on a waterbed. this happened for 30 seconds there was a very low pitched rumble and my house felt as if it were swaying back and forth 6 inches each way. after it was over every window blind was smacking against the window and my 30 gallon aquarium was sloshing. that was very frightning. my wife felt one here last year but i wasnt here that day.
Cleveland: My husband and I were watching tv in bed, and everything started shaking, the windows, the bed, the floor. Being in oklahoma, we thought a tornado had started hitting the house, it was shocking to have felt that, never imagined feeling a quake so well in oklahoma, what an experience!
Tulsa: The walls shook for a long time and a super loud rumbling. I woke up and watched the walls shake in the dark. Far worse way way worse then the last.
